Nuclear Power Generator - Kincardine, Ontario
Objective: Client dealing with quality, delivery and relationship challenges with primary supplier of Uranium Fuel Cells
Issue: Identified root cause of delivery and quality issue being poor demand management. Supplier relationship poor as adversarial management.
Solution: Introduced new demand management process and supplier management process with collaboration and two way communication.
Pharmaceutical Company - Toronto, Ontario
Objective: Outsource facility services.
Issue: Client required support and expertise running an RFP to select a facility management outsourcing provider including cafeteria services.
Solution: Helped client develop scope of work along with required work processes and service levels. Incorporated into an RFP and score card. Ran RFP, vendor evaluation program to select appropriate supplier.
Vanoc - Vancouver, British Columbia
Objective: Client faced challenges processing purchase transactions quickly enough to keep up with business requirements.
Issue: Assess critical nature of business transactions helping client to identify which purchase contracts contain risk and need full contract versus which can be done quickly due to minimal risk.
Solution: Demonstrated volume of purchase transactions which could be done quicker using standard purchase order over full contract or P-Card for low value commodity type items.
Canada Post - Ottawa, Ontario
Objective: Client spend on national facility management over $1B per year. Contracts coming to expiry and client needed to validate whether they were receiving “value for money”.
Issue: Interview business units and suppliers to understand how facility management activities operate. Learned that much effort and time placed on management and reporting and supplier’s organization structures were top heavy with managers.
Solution: Recommended to client to reorganize structure to less management and more technical people on the ground doing the work. Reduce the reporting to a smaller list of strategic key performance indicators.
Mobile Telecom Provider - Toronto, Ontario
Objective: As a new company, client did not have any purchase processes or policies in place.
Issue: Required policies and processes to support procurement engagement with the business units and when the business needs to engage procurement.
Solution: Leveraging leading class practices developed business policy related to procurement. Once accepted by business units built processes from policy and conducted training on policies and processes.
Greater Toronto Airport Authority - Toronto, Ontario
Objective: Client required to reduce operating costs so that it could reduce fees charged to airlines for landing.
Issue: Reviewed operations and procurement activities and associated costs. Identified several areas of potential savings opportunities.
Solution: Recommended strategies to deliver savings on operations and procurement through ease of implementation and size of spend. GTAA implemented many of the recommendations reducing the landing fees.
Multinational Mobile Phone Company - Waterloo, Ontario
Objective: Client lacked procurement organization for indirect spend. Required help developing process, vendor management and driving savings in the indirect spend areas.
Issue: Implemented Category Management program along with business methods in supplier management. Supported development of transactional procurement process moving the business to a single procurement technology – SAP.
Solution: Implemented leading class supplier management and RFx processes delivering savings of $85M per year along with increasing spend under management to 75%.
Financial Institution - Toronto, Ontario
Objective: Client building policies and implementing controls pertaining to contracting of consulting firms
Issue: Lack of control over when company hires consulting firms. Often uses consultants for staff augmentation roles.
Solution: Implemented governance controls over how consulting firms are hired and drove change management process within organization. Worked with internal business units running sourcing initiatives to contract with consulting firms.
